Tim Büthe: Research

All of my research reflects my overarching interest in political, legal, and economic institutions, specifically how institutions empower and constrain actors, how domestic and international institutions interact, and why institutions change or persist.  Most of my work on these issues seeks to contribute to the literatures on global governance, international political economy, and international law through a special focus on private rules and non-governmental organizations as they regulate international economic relations and reshape world politics.  For a brief overview of my research, please click here; to learn more about my main areas of research, please follow the links below:
