Gulf Sebastian-bush (Ditrysinia fruticosa)

Also known as Sebastiania fruticosa (sometimes misspelled Sebastiana), this medium-sized shrub of shady riverine forests is rare in the southern Coastal Plain of North Carolina. These photos show Sebastian-bush in full bloom.
