Japanese Pachysandra (Pachysandra terminalis)

This commonly cultivated evergreen groundcover from Japan and China persists or slowly spreads from cultivation; it is not presently considered particularly invasive. Compare with the Allegheny-spurge (Pachysandra procumbens), which is native to one county in the Mountains of NC.
