Here are some pics I took (August 23-24, 2003) from a pelagic trip aboard the Miss Hatteras with Brian Patteson of Seabirding Pelagic Trips. These photos were taken with a Nikon Coolpix 4500 digital camera with a 4x optical zoom (not ideal for bird photography!), so most are small and fuzzy. Brian's got incredibly good pics on his website, though.
Audubon's Shearwater crossing under the bow.
Wilson's Storm-Petrels on the fish oil "slick" put out behind the boat by Slick Veteran Butch Pearce.
Bridled Tern sitting on flotsam and then taking flight.
And the bird of the trip . . . Masked Booby!!
Jeff spotting birds from the point.
Here's a few Bottlenose Dolphin that came in to play under the bow of the boat.
There's Kate, Natalie, and Rebecca checkin' out the dolphins!
And here's a dorsal fin of a pretty good-sized Hammerhead Shark that came looking for a snack . . .
And thanks again Pat & Neal!!
