Robert Swinney is an Associate Professor in the Operations Management area of the Duke University Fuqua School of Business. His research focuses on strategic problems in operations management, including the impact of customer behavior on operational decisions, social responsibility and disruption risk in supply chains, platform operations, and the operations of start-up firms.

He serves as an associate editor at Management Science and Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, and his work has been published in Management Science, Operations Research, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, and Marketing Science. At Fuqua, he is the coordinator of the doctoral program in operations management, and teaches a core course on technological transformation of business and an elective on operations strategy in the MBA program.
