Learning Points

An important part of your daily assignment is the collection of the "learning points". For this, you should create a list from your reading of (1) important facts, ideas, events [as for a short ID part of an exam] and (2) important topics [as for a short essay part of an exam]. "Important" means either essential information that a student of this course will want to memorize or items (usually topics or events) that you find particularly interesting. The list should not be too long or detailed, nor too short and vague. We will then use these as the basis to negotiate what should be "live ammunition" for the exams, and the topics will help me formulate a class discussion that is driven by your particular interests.

Email your learning points at least one hour prior to class (william.johnson@duke.edu) so that I can use them in formulating the class discussion.
