Coastal Plain Serviceberry is very similar to Dwarf Serviceberry (Amelanchier spicata), which is also a low rhizomatous shrub, but found in drier areas. There is a difference between the two in the summit of the ovary, which is densely woolly-hairy in A. spicata, sparsely pubescent in A. obovalis. Scotland Co., NC 4/18/10. |
