Alma Bryant, 97, of Cotton Plant, died Friday, April 22, 2011 at the home of her daughter, Rev. Jacqueline Doby. She was born July 24, 1913 in Cotton Plant, Florida. She was the daughter of the late Charlie and Ellen (Stark) Hamilton. She was a long time member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, Cotton Plant, Florida. She was an associate member of Tyler's Temple United Methodist Church, Tampa, Florida. She attended school and graduated from Middleton High School on June 2, 1937; she also attended the School of Cosmetology and was licensed by the state of Florida in 1939. She was a Sunday school teacher, choir member, member of Community Woman Society, Secretary of the state of Florida Future Farmers of America for 12 years. And she was the first and only licensed community beautician during that time. Alma was the mother of six children: Reverend Jacqueline Doby, Ocala, Florida, Theodore Bryant, Ocala, Florida, Wilbert Bryant (Daphne), Oviedo, Florida and Alvin Bryant (deceased); 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Visitation services were held Thursday, April 28, at 7 p.m. at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, 12264 West Highway 40, Ocala, Fl 34481 (Cotton Plant). Funeral services will be Saturday, April 30, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, 12264 W. Hwy 40, Ocala (Cotton Plant), Florida, Reverend Miquell Mack, Pastor, officiating and Elder Willie Daniel Doby, Eulogist. Funeral services will be entrusted to Summers Funeral Home, 2238 N.W. 10th Street, Ocala, Florida 34475.
