· Areather Doby of Gainesville died Monday at the E.T. York Hospice Care Center after a lengthy illness. She was 83.
Mrs. Doby was born in St. Petersburg and moved to Gainesville 14 years ago from Alachua.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Bartley Temple United Methodist Church, where she served as a communion steward.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Malvin Doby, and sons Johnelle Doby and Marion Doby.
Survivors include sons Marvin Doby and Clement Doby, both of Gainesville, and Willie Lee Doby of High Springs; daughters Minnie Tyson of Gainesville, Ruth Doby Anazia of Topeka, Kan., Dorothy Doby O'Neal of Waldo and Rose Doby Harris of Atlanta; a sister, Cary Lee Moore of Philadelphia; 20 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
