Emmett Girardeau Male

Died: 23-Jan-2008   GIRARDEAU Emmett Girardeau was a God-loving man who attended Ebenezer United Methodist Church where he was christened. At the same time, he had a joyous zest for life. He was an avid golfer and sports fan, and also was acknowledged for his skill at checkers and other board games. Quick-witted and armed with an impressive collection of facts, he liked nothing more than to challenge others to his own version of Jeopardy, and he rarely, if ever, lost. In 1952 he married Canary Savage, and they became parents to four daughters who were his pride and joy - Darlene Girardeau Barber (Frank), Denise Girardeau, Dacel Girardeau Spears (Gilbert), and Dierdra “Gigi” Girardeau. He also cherished other members of his extended family. They include his grandchildren - Hanna Girardeau, Allyson Penn, Walter Wesley Penn III, Gabrielle Barber, Noelle Barber, Sheridan Barber, and Brandon Spears and stepson Bobby Robinson, son of his second marriage to Doris Girardeau. Other survivors include his brother, Dr. Arnett Elyus Girardeau Sr. (Matilda Carolyn), sister, Inez Elizabeth Nesbitt; cousins, Annette Hill, Sylvia Limbric Levy, and Reverend Willie Limbric and many nephews, nieces and other relatives and a host of friends. Memorial Service will be Saturday, January 26, 2008, 11:00 AM at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 9114 Norfolk Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32208. Arrangements are under the care of Wendell Holmes Funeral Director, Inc., 2719 West Edgewood Ave., Wendell P. Holmes, Jr., FDIC
