Rusty Spots was found by his "Grandfather" on October 3, 1989. He was taking the garbage out that evening and heard a kitten crying in the bushes. After waiting in vain for a couple of hours in hopes that the mother would return for the last kitten, my parents tried to find an animal shelter that would be willing to take him. (maybe there was a mother with a new litter). All refused to take him so they took it upon themselves to raise him. (One animal shelter did help them to locate formula and such).
Rusty got his name because of the metal door jambs my parents were painting white. They had to apply multiple coats of paint because the rust spots were showing through.

Rusty Spots was put to sleep at 5:00 in the afternoon, 8 February 1999. The vet suspected cancer. His weight was just a bit over 6 lbs, down from his regular 14-15 lbs. He was 9 years old.
