Building Tables and Frames in HTML Documents

It is easy to include tables and frames in HTML pages but it is tedious, particularly when working with our version of HTML Assistant. I will cover this material twice: March 25 and March 28. You are strongly encouraged to work with the material on your own between the two class sessions ... do not put it off until the night before your assignment is due.

Tables

There are several tables tutorials available:

We will work our way through LeJeune's tutorial during class. It is very detailed and provides all the information you need for the table aspect of your assignments.

In addition, I will illustrate the use of tables in publishing my biographical sketch.

Frames

We will work our way through Carlton Rose's frame tutorial during class.

Examples Used in Class

Examples of frame application:

TRANSCOM Travel Advisories ... notice what happens as you move the cursor over the boxes in the right most frame: a description of its purpose appears in the bottom frame ... this advanced feature is implemented via JavaScript ... it is not a frame application.
Atlantic Records
The NewMedia 1996 HyperAwards ... this is similar to (but not identical to) the frame application you must develop for assignment #2.
John Karondy's Home Page ... this begins with a series of pages that make use of Netscape's "push" facility ... you have to wait through these initial pages to get to the frame application.
