Currently, Ting is a M.Sc. student at Duke, studying in Electrical and Computer Engineering program, graduating in December, 2019. His primary focus includes software engineering, data & signal processing and data related researches. Ting is working part-time for Duke Center for Mobile Development, delivering iOS apps based on clients’ requests. He is also actively participating in open source contributions. His primary programming languages are C/C++/C#, Python, MATLAB and Swift.
Ting earned his B.Sc. degree from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications. Majored in Applied Physics - Pilot Class of Communication Sciences, he ranked 15/78 overall and had a GPA of 3.6/4.0. During his undergraduate period, he focused on Applied Physics and Optoelectronics. He worked and studied in the Institute of Semiconductors of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), State Key Laboratory of Information Photonics and Optical Communications, School Circuits and Electronics Experiment Center and Physics Experiments Center. He had 2 publications concerning optical communication and non-linear dynamic behavior of oscillators. He obtained a Huang Kun scholarship from the CAS and 3 school scholarships. Major awards during undergraduate include 2nd prize for National Undergraduate Electronic Design Contest, 1st prize for National Training Program of Innovation, 2nd prize for the 9th Undergraduate Physical Experiment Competition of Beijing, 1st place in school Literature Society Annual Essay Competition and Outstanding Dissertation award for Bachelor's Degree. Apart from academic achievements, he also served as the captain and organizer of school flag football team POSTERS, student cadre in his department and worked as a teaching assistant and photographer in Americans Promoting Study Abroad (APSA) Program for the International Chinese Training Center of BUPT. Besides, he also contributes to NFLChina.com article editing and translation.
Ting enjoys learning languages and speaks English (fluent), Chinese (native), French (TCF B2/intermediate) and Spanish (Basic). During his free time, he works on implementing personal technical projects, doing video clipping and plotting for data visualization.
