Challenge 7 - Nanotechnology and Culture

Conference panelists have been asked to talk about the events of 9/11 in relationship to their work as digital and computational artists. Some will talk about 9/11; some will talk about their artwork. Either way, many of them will be talking about society, simulations, visualizations and/or games. I would like you to write a critical review of any of the topics raised that you think are relevant to our task of writing computer simulations and models of societal and cultural systems. You may focus on the role of art as a visualizer of social process, as a "subversion" of mainstream culture, and/or as a discoverer, along with scientists, of new social processes and behaviors. Three to five pages of thoughtful written text will probably be fine.

Go to the conference, listen, talk, discuss, enjoy and then report back...
