Challenge 4 - Visualizing Data
Peruse Tufte's three books on visualization:
- Pick one visualization from Tufte's
books that you find particularly interesting.
Prepare a critique of the pair:
- The Tufte images explore some of the best of
what is possible with flat static representations.
- What are the representations designed to show
and hide?
- What preceeded them? What may likely follow them?
- What do they do well? What do they do poorly?
- How can they be made better with the technology
of computation?
- Are there any examples on the Web that will illustrate
your critique?
Present your critique in class:
- Capture the images for presentation (digitize
them).
- Use PowerPoint or DreamWeaver for your presentation.
- If you need help, contact your instructor, TA
and/or CLICC staff.
Turn in your presentation on floppy, ZIP or CD-ROM.
