Yes, but there are problems shooting the screen with a digital camera. It works great with a 35mm SLR where you can shoot long exposures to average out the raster scans and allow the color to register on film. What I have seen so far from my Mavica is better than shooting a TV monitor but the colors are not deep and, as you say, the sharpness is less than desirable. I've fielded this question to some other folks and as a result of their suggestions I can say that one solution is to load a DVD player that uses DirectX and then to load a screen-grabber that can capture DirectX.

period is apparently limited to 30 minutes screening time. So try before you
buy.
