UCLA Visualization Portal
The
Portal Web Site.
Applications that may be scalable and portable
from the CLICC PC Laboratories to the Visualization Portal:
- Widescreen three projector visualizations.
These are facilitated by an Appian Graphics Card. Any Window that can be programmed
to fill a 3X width can be ported over to a PC in the Visualization Portal.
The limitation is that there will NOT be blending and morphing at the seems
of the projections and that visualizations at that size may not run quickly
on the PC.
- CrystalEyes by StereoGraphics.
We need a Borland C++ Builder for Windows functionality for driving CrystalEyes
3D glasses. This can be non-portable, but it would be nice to be able to scale
it up and make it portable to the UNIX based installation of CrystalEyes at
the UCLA Visualization Portal.
- The Portal currently has one head and
wand tracking system allowing one operator to control movements for the entire
audience.
- Multiuser Single Visualization (MSV)
technology for having several users interact with their avatars on a single
screen. This could be implemented with hard-wired controllers interfaced to
a National Instruments analog-to-digital-converter card.
- Multiuser Multi Visualization (MMV)
technology for the support of up to five or six users each experiencing a
different visualization projected onto one screen. This is already under investigation
at the Portal.
