ARTIFICIAL WORLDS

We use the phrase ARTIFICIAL WORLDS to include computational universes and realities such as ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE, ARTIFICIAL LIFE, ARTIFICIAL SOCIETIES, ARTIFICIAL CULTURE, and VIRTUAL ENVIRONMENTS. They all share computational similarities but differ to the degree that they emphasize various aspects of reality. The following diagram may help to clarify their interdependencies:
