Dr. Reiman assists the Radiation Safety Officer in coordinating the patient care activities of the Radiation Safety Division in the Medical Center. He also develops Radiation Safety training programs at Duke, which include the Safety Orientation for new House Staff, departmental Grand Rounds, and in-service training to specific groups as needed.
Dr. Reiman received a BS degree in physics and a Master of Science in Public Health in Radiological Hygiene from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After leaving UNC, he worked as a Research Assistant in the Biophysics Laboratory of the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, where he developed image-processing techniques for metabolic studies using nitrogen-13 labeled amino acids, labeled red blood cells and radioactive iron. He subsequently obtained his MD degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, and completed a Nuclear Medicine Fellowship at Duke University Medical Center. He has been with the Radiation Safety Division of OESO since 1998. He holds faculty appointments in the Department of Radiology and the Medical Physics Graduate Program, and is certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Nuclear Medicine.
