Angiogenesis - Endothelial cell migration
VEGF is a potent chemoattractant for endothelial cells. Following activation of VEGF receptors on ECs, they will migrate along a concentration gradient toward the source of VEGF production (i.e, the ischemic tissue), forming new vascular sprouts.
