Laurel Oak (Quercus laurifolia)

Laurel Oak is a common large semi-evergreen tree of wet areas in the Coastal Plain. An alternate common name is Diamond-leaf Oak -- some of the leaves may be diamond-shaped.

Laurel Oak is very similar to the Sand Laurel Oak Q. hemisphaerica, but occurs in wetter habitats, tends to have tufts of hairs in the vein axils on the leaf undersides, and has more rounded leaf tips, lacking a bristle tip.
