Staghorn Sumac (Rhus typhina) leaves

Staghorn Sumac is a large shrub or small tree common at higher elevations in the Mountains of North Carolina. The stems and rachis are densely hairy, unlike the smooth stems of the similar and more widespread Smooth Sumac (Rhus glabra).
