The simulated tax rates are a sophisticated estimate of the corporate
marginal tax rate for over 10,000 firms from 1980 through present. The
tax rates account for many important features of the tax code including
uncertainty about taxable income, deferred taxes, the progressivity of
the statutory tax schedule, net operating loss carryforwards and carrybacks,
certain tax credits, and the alternative minimum tax. For more details,
