a more long-winded bio

Dr. Nikki Sullivan is a neuroeconomist and Postdoctoral Associate in Cognitive Neuroscience and Marketing at Duke University. She received her Ph.D. in Computation and Neural Systems and Behavioral and Social Neuroscience from Caltech, where she studied with Antonio Rangel. Her dissertation was entitled, "The neurocomputational basis of self-control success and failure." Prior to Caltech, Nikki received her M.A. at University of Chicago and worked as a researcher for the Departments of Psychology and Economics. She holds a B.A. from Miami University (Ohio) in psychology with a minor in neuroscience and concentration in biochemistry.

Her research interests include factors influencing the neural computations relating to consumer decisions. She uses methods including fMRI, eye tracking, and mouse tracking to address these questions.

In addition to science, Nikki enjoys fiction - especially 18th and 19th century English lit, Russian lit from Tolstoy to Bulgakov, magic surrealism, and obviously Harry Potter. She also enjoys entangling herself in elaborate, drawn-out, and often inadvisable DIY projects and political arguments (though not simultaneously), cuddling hedgehogs, doing genealogical research, learning about history, taking pretty pictures, watching fireworks, and traveling.
