I am a postdoctoral researcher at Duke University's Nicholas School of the Environment. I work on the PCAD project with Professor Jim Clark as my supervisor. I am broadly interested in how organisms perceive, move through, and remain connected to their landscape. Read more about my research here.

My wife, Riki Shore, is a former technical writer and program manager at, among other places, Cisco Systems. Currently she is raising our amazing daughter Stella, and currently writes about all aspects of food at Three Squares blog.

My paper on connectivity in historic salmon populations, which came out in December of 2007 in Journal of Applied Ecology, received an honorable mention for the Southwood Prize.
